August 18. The National Center for Manuscripts and Rare Books held an exhibition-lecture “Printing on the Great Silk Road”, prepared jointly with the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Over the centuries the Great Silk Road united the peoples of Eurasia, connected the territories of different countries and states. The key part of it, uniting the West and the East, was and remains the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Over 100 books from the collections of the National Center for Manuscripts and Rare Books and the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan were presented at the exhibition.
The most valuable expositions presented at the exhibition: “Marco Polo and the Silk Road” Jean Pierre Dreja, “The Great Silk Road on the territory of Kazakhstan” encyclopedic edition, “The Journey of Adam Olearius”, “Atlas of the World”, “Book of Chinese Ideas”, etc. .
At the exhibition were presented varieties of book printing: on paper, books of silk, jade and a book written on bamboo tablets.
The event was visited by the Hungarian scientist-traveler István Bence who arrived at the “Astana-Expo-2017”, who is the initiator of the equestrian expedition along the Great Silk Road.
At the opening of the exhibition were Burkhanov Kamal Nizamovich, Kuzekov Askhat Saipiyevich.
A lecture on the theme of the exhibition was read by the doctor of historical sciences, professor of ENU. LN Gumilev, employee of the National Center for Manuscripts and Rare Books Dukenbaeva Zashash Orazgalievna.
During the day, the exhibition was visited by over 150 people.
