Kazakhstan strengthens cooperation with Hong Kong in the field of culture

On March 20-21, 2018, the official secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ualiyeva KS, the Director of the National Center for Manuscripts and Rare Books Saduova A.Zh., made a working visit to the Special Administrative Region (SAR) of Hong Kong of the People’s Republic of China. and Deputy Director of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan Taimagambetov Zh.K., which resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of culture between the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Office of Internal Affairs of Hong Kong SAR.

The Memorandum, concluded with the assistance of the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Hong Kong, laid the foundation for the strengthening of Kazakh-Hong Kong cooperation in the field of culture, art, preservation of historical heritage, mutual holding of various cultural events, festivals and exhibitions.

Within the framework of the visit, bilateral meetings of the Kazakh delegation with the Secretary for Internal Affairs of the Hong Kong Administration Lau Kong Wah, the leadership of the Department of Culture and Leisure of the ATS, leading museums and cultural sites of the city were held. A number of agreements have been reached to organize on a bilateral basis the performances of creative teams, professional internships for students of specialized educational institutions, and the establishment of links between scientists and artists.

During her stay in Hong Kong, the delegation got acquainted with the ongoing administration of the local administration to strengthen the status of the ATS as a recognized cultural hub of the Asia-Pacific region, measures taken to develop the relevant urban infrastructure, realize the creative potential of young people, and promote traditional and modern arts. The Hong Kong side was informed about the priorities of the development of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the light of modernization of public consciousness, preservation and popularization of the national culture. Representatives of the MKS RK visited a number of iconic cultural, sports and educational facilities of the city.

On the basis of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, a meeting was organized with students in Hong Kong by Kazakhstani students and faculty of universities, during which the audience was informed of the progress of the Ruhani Jangyrou program, the translation of the state language into Latin script, and the promotion of the latest social initiatives of the Head of State. The Kazakhstan delegation donated a series of books to the library of the university for the authorship of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.Nazarbayev, as well as a number of illustrated editions on the history and culture of Kazakhstan.
