The organization of libraries, museums and the Documentation Center Astana Kuds Razavi is considered one of the most important treasures of recorded knowledge about Iran and the world of Islam.
There is no information on the exact date of the creation of the Asta-Quds-Development library. Some consider the date of the gift (974 AD) of the ancient Koran to the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) a man called Ali Ibn Simzhur, as the year of establishing the date of the Asta-Quds Development Library (or a place for reading the Koran). Some of the surviving documents also suggest that the library was open to the public and used by them in 1457 AD. Around 1737 a special place was allocated to the library, but in the beginning of the 20th century it was given serious attention. However, the growing tendency of using the library by researchers and scientists contributed to the acceleration of the development and growth of the library.
Although the location of the library has changed many times over the years, it has always remained in the immediate vicinity of the Holy Temple.
